Hi, I am very happy to be a contributor to Teen Word Factory. I now live in Stamford, CT, with my husband and two grown daughters, but I spent most of my life in New York State. I am a retired teacher and now tutor children who have learning difficulties. Since I was a little girl I have loved reading and writing. A few years ago I received my Masters in Reading and Writing K-12 and became a certified Reading teacher. Almost eight years ago I wanted to attend a workshop with Paula Danziger as the leader so I wrote three chapters of a YA story that just popped into my head. When Paula took an interest in working with my story I was thrilled and decided it had merit. So in the next two years I worked on finishing it. Sending it to two critique groups and several different readers I polished it and submitted it to several large publishers. When I had received my seventh rejection I put it away. Then at a Muse Online Conference last year I posted my first page and Margot Finke told me it was good. That was when Lea Schizas saw it too. This year when I attended the same Muse Online Conference I pitched it to Lea and now my YA novel, If I Could Be Like Jennifer Taylor is going to be published in September by MuseItUp Publishing. Being a part of MuseItUp Publishing has brought me another online family and I am thrilled to be one of the increasingly large members of this warm and encouraging group.
